The Ways of the Garden
Writing has always been a significant part in my life ever since when I
was a child. It provided a doorway
into my imagination that helped express my emotions onto paper. I emphasize the
beauty and the ugly behind things, how the world and its people can alter a
person thinking and convictions, and the effects of growing up as a writer. I call myself a garden.
A garden is like poetry; there may be flowers, tress, bushes,
and other plants that make a garden what it is. The garden expresses itself by the
kinds of plants harvested.
Whenever we think of a garden, we think of beauty. Gardens should present
a satisfying sensation whenever looked upon. However, whenever there are beautiful
things, there are ugly things as well. A weed affects the appearance of a
garden. In the eyes of many, weeds
are pestilent because of their ugly features and their destructive behaviors;
thus the beauty within the garden starts to perish.
The garden, therefore, becomes an expression.
When I write poetry or a short story, I use specific words and structure
in my writing to clarify the main purpose to the readers; describing the beauty
and the ugly behind the topic. I
exaggerate different words whenever I find a scenario that is difficult to
express onto paper. Just like in
a garden, I rid words or sentences that may hinder my purpose of the theme and I
include things that will make my purpose clear to the reader.
Sheltering a garden can be a delicate matter. Plants require
nutrients and protection by the things that could destroy them. The littlest
force on a plant could bruise or even interrupt its life span.
Criticism and crowded thoughts reduces my motivation to write. This sometimes destroys my will and my
ability to start a writing project. As I continue to grow, building resilient
will help me maintaining and organization my thoughts and emotions. This is
essential to my writings.
Maintaining a garden to survive has to be precise; especially
through harsh seasons. However, this can be challenging and troublesome to
achieve. When I begin to write, poetry, a short story, or an essay, my writing
needs to be carefully written to perfection. But in this case, my thoughts
becomes overwhelmed and thwarts my mind to function; usually resulting in a slow
process to complete my goal of writing or just a total failure to complete it
all. I witness that eliminating
procrastination and learning from my grammatical or structure mistakes, within
my writings, provides motivation to become the best that I can achieve.
Even till this day, writing has had a great impact on my life;
which gave me the support to feel motivated about myself and the others around
me. The characteristics and purpose of a garden share a common goal and
hardships that I face within my writing.
This is way I call myself a garden.
