My Reflection
English 1010 have been a wonderful and an enjoyable class; I learned so many new ideas and concept about the writing process. Professor Brand has been an incredible, patient, and compassionate instructor that helped, taught, and guided me through this course. I became acquainted with some of my classmates and we support each other with friendly conversations about class materials and other things.
How Has Your Writing Changed From Writing Project 1 Through 5 and What Improvements Are Apparent?
When I first began this course, I was very intimidated by the online way. I wasn’t aware about the process for online courses and so I started to panic. I wanted to quit. My mother urged me to talk to one of her girl-friends who took online schooling. After a thirty minute conversation/prep talk with her, she explained how online classes worked and how enjoyable it is. My panic amazingly vanished and I felt excited and motivated. By this boost of motivation, I was ready than ever to start writing again.
Since writing project one, my writing has improved significantly. These projects and this class as an overall taught me things about myself as a writer and a person that I was never aware of. This class taught me to become confident and to strive in my goals.
The most recognizable improvement within my writing is the supporting details. I learned that I sometimes lack supporting details about the various topics within my papers. I wasn’t aware of this until attending this class. Attaining the information and corrections from my peer and external reviews illustrated that I needed to work on improving this area of concern. This is one of my main issues as a writer and thus I know what to look for when I begin to proofread for an example. I know this new process will help maintain a stronger foundation for future writing projects.
My thesis statements have been improved for its clarity. At times, my thesis statement wouldn’t clarify its main point and lack to introduce the points/supporting details I would present in the body. Now that I understand this issue, I have a better concept for producing a clear yet specific thesis statement.
Transitioning from paragraphs has improved as well. I rarely have issues with transitions; however, there are times were I do make the
mistake of not separating my ideas/points. My essays had little to no issues with transitions from paragraphs.

What Is the Most Important Thing You Have Learned?
Prewriting has greatly helped with organizing my writing projects. I usually lack organization within my papers resulting in either multiple random ideas floating throughout my paper or incomplete thoughts. On the other hand, by using the prewriting style, cluster mapping, help with generating ideas onto paper. Even though this prewriting style isn’t included within this class curriculum, I use these ideas to form an outline. The outline creates a visual picture of what I want to write and how it should be organized.
About how writing will apply to your chosen career or major field of study?
I will be taking R.A.T. (Recording Arts and Technology) after completing all my requirement classes. While attending R.A.T., I will eventually take business of the music industry and Jazz theory. Anything pertaining to business heavily relates to lots of writing like, reports, arguments and persuasive essays, letters, etc.
The Jazz Theory class will also pertain to reports, essays, biographies, and summaries. Learning from my mistakes and new ideas and concepts will help me strive to succeed in my future courses.
